When Mary Lorene TOWRY was born on May 2, 1927, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, her father, Tillman, was 29, and her mother, Ollie, was 19. She was the third born child.

She married Leonard Odie CHILDRESS on August 4, 1946, in Madison, Alabama. 

She died on July 5, 2009, in her hometown at the age of 82, and was buried in Lincoln, Tennessee.
