05 Thomas Jackson Towry

When Thomas Jackson TOWRY was born on April 14, 1930, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, his father, Tillman, was 32 and his mother, Ollie, was 22. He was the fifth born child.

He had three sons and two daughters with Annie Jean SANDERS. 

Thomas Towry died on January 16, 2021, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 90, and was buried in Flat Rock, Michigan. 

Thomas Towry, age 90, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland, Florida. He was born April 14, 1930 in Fayetteville, TN to Tillman and Ollie (Williams) Towry. He married Jean Sanders in 1950 she preceded him in death in 1999. He later married Ethel Jasper in 2000 and she survives.

Tom worked as a crane operator for Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse, Michigan for 42 years until retirement. He wintered in Lakeland, Florida for over 20 years and loved watching Detroit Tigers baseball. Tom was also a member of the Hillsdale Masonic Lodge and attended Cambria Baptist Church.

Surviving besides his wife, Ethel are four children, Linda (Harold) Durham of Fayetteville, TN, Debbie (Rick) Ison of Lincoln Park, MI, Michael (Dorothy) Towry and Jeff Towry , both of Taylor, MI; step children, Deb (David) Simmons, Anita (Bob) Lindsay, Janet (Jeff) Miller, Connie (Randy) Jackson and David (Kathy ) Jasper; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Wade (Connie) Towry and Dallas (Hazel) Towry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jean Towry; son, Thomas Towry, Jr.; step grandson, Jake Miller; and five brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services for Thomas Towry will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2 PM at Cambria Baptist Church with Pastor David Locke officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 NOON until the time of service at the church. Interment will take place Monday, February 1, 2021 at 1 PM at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI. Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading.
